About me

My name is Ien, a mom of 2 amazing boys and wife to the best husband ever. I love to create and be arty, I love nature, sunshine and going on adventures with my family. While being blessed with my 3 wonderful men, my life has not exactly been a walk in the park.

I have had a traumatising childhood and that has left pretty deep scars. Life has thrown a few tough things on me in the past years as well. Both my husband and I have been very ill, in different stages of our marriage and up until this day I am still struggling living life with a chronically neurological disorder. Thank God I have my 3 men and very dear friends around me, I literally would not have survived without them!

During the hard times I have experienced how amazing it is when people show you they see you and the tough time you have to face. A letter in the mail, a home cooked meal, sweet little notes and so on really brightened up the day and made the hard times a little less hard.

Unfortunately I have also experienced the other side,when I had to face tough times without feeling seen, no one who asks you how you are doing, no little sweet notes. That makes you feel so lonely and makes the hard times even harder.

Whilst being in the midst of a really hard, lonely period I felt so disconnected and alone and I didn’t know how to ask for help. I didn’t want to be a burden to anyone, so I kept struggling. Later I realised I can not be the only one who has to go through hard times without feeling seen or connected.

I don’t want anyone to feel this way and the concept of Cher Ami started to grow in my mind. I started to think of a way to make offering help easy and even though I always have had a heart for encouragement, it made me want to encourage others and spread kindness even more !

Spreading encouragement or kindness, which is kind of the same thing to me is not hard at all. You can do it any way that fits you and your amount of time and energy, it can be as easy as a smile or go as far as a home cooked meal and everything in between !
